Usage

Enpass is available as an AppImage which means 'one app = one file', which you can download and run on your Linux system while you don't need a package manager and nothing gets changed in your system. Awesome!

AppImages are single-file applications that run on most Linux distributions. Download an application, make it executable, and run! No need to install. No system libraries or system preferences are altered. Most AppImages run on recent versions of Arch Linux, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Red Hat, Ubuntu, and other common desktop distributions.

Running Enpass on Linux without installation

Unlike other applications, AppImages do not need to be installed before they can be used. However, they need to be marked as executable before they can be run. This is a Linux security feature.Enpass

Behold! AppImages are usually not verified by others. Follow these instructions only if you trust the developer of the software. Use at your own risk!

Note for application authors

Thanks for distributing Enpass in the AppImage format for all common Linux distributions. Great! Here are some ideas on how to make it even better.

Pro Tips for further enhancing the Enpass AppImage

Please consider to add update information to the Enpass AppImage and ship a .zsync file so that it can be updated using AppImageUpdate. Tools like appimagetool and linuxdeployqt can do this for you easily.

Improve this entry by shipping an AppStream metainfo file inside the AppImage in the usr/share/metainfo directory. We have an online tool that makes it easy to make one.

The screenshot for Enpass has been automatically taken during a fully automated test. You can specify the URL to a nicer one by shipping an AppStream metainfo file.

If you would like to see a donation link for the application here, please include one in the AppStream data.

Enpass just added two great features in its latest update.

What you need to know

  • Enpass has a new update that brings breach monitoring to the service.
  • The update also adds the ability to identify 2FA supported logins.
  • The Windows version of Enpass also has design changes that arrive with this update.

Enpass Chess

Enpass is one of the best Windows 10 password managers available, and a recent update to the service makes it even better. That latest update to Enpass brings it to version 6.6 and includes breach monitoring and the ability to identify two-factor authentication (2FA) logins. The update also includes design improvements that make navigation easier.

Breach monitoring is a major addition to Enpass. It doesn't matter how many characters your password is if a website gets breached and people can access your password. Enpass will now notify you when a website is breached, allowing you to change your password to make sure you aren't vulnerable.

Enpass Password Manager

Enpass can now also identify which of your accounts support 2FA. You can then elect to not save one-time codes within Enpass if you'd like.

Here's everything that's new and improved in Enpass version 6.6.0, as found in its release notes:

What's New:

Password
  • Breach Monitoring | CURRENTLY VISIBLE TO PREMIUM USERS ONLY: Enpass has got new brains to notify you about website breaches so that you always stay on top of your security. Change passwords of vulnerable accounts as soon as you get alerts. All the checking happens locally on your device without sending any URLs to us.
  • 2FA Supported Logins | CURRENTLY VISIBLE TO PREMIUM USERS ONLY: Identify your accounts that support 2FA but don't have one-time codes saved in Enpass. You can go through the list and choose not to save one-time codes in Enpass if you're using any other method like call, email, or text for second-factor authentication.
  • Enpass Assistant has got better with a lot of new features suggested by you all. You can now add new logins, edit them directly from the browser extension without jumping on to the main app. Also, the detail page of any item in the assistant will show the associated tags as well.
  • New Audit section design as a single-entry dashboard to review any possible vulnerabilities regarding your accounts and passwords.
  • Now you see a prominent warning header on the item's details page if that particular website is breached in the past, supports 2FA, or the password of that item is weak, compromised, identical, or has expired.
  • Nextcloud users, now you have a direct option to set up your sync. If you've enabled 2FA in your Nextcloud account, you don't have to create an App password if you do it using this option.

Improvements:

Enpass Download

  • Faster restore from cloud now, with improvements in the attachment download process.
  • Various UI improvements. The settings screen will show tabs at the bottom for faster switching.
  • All your items under 'Expiring tomorrow' and 'Expiring in a week' will now be listed under 'Expiring Soon.'
  • Show/Hide menu option in settings for the classic theme.

The update also includes several fixes, including fixing sync issues with OneDrive and Dropbox.

The biggest additions that come with this update require a premium plan, but there are also changes for free users.
